Revan Stone was little, even by Gnome Standards. Standing at 3′ 1″ tall (he swears on the 1″), he was never picked first for anything in his life. He turned to books, reading anything he could get his hands on. Sneaking into the library when he could, or others homes when he couldn’t, devouring all the knowledge he could. He caught the eye of one of the elders, an older woman who saw a lot of himself in her. One night, she caught him plundering the library. Instead of punishment, he started working as an assistant to the elder tomesmith, and began his journey to replace her as the ultimate source of knowledge in the tribe. Life was good, and he spent decades working there.
Organize books. Recopy worn texts. Memorize another history book. Dust the shelves.
Rinse. Repeat.
Revan wasn’t sure if it was a gradual build up, or if it came on suddenly, but he remembers the moment he realized this life was not for him. It was just another day, rebinding an ancient tome, when he found it: sewn into the cover, was a map and an amulet bearing a strange symbol. Glancing down at it, the possibilities began to well up in his mind. This was not some story from the history books, or a solved mystery from their past, this was still unsolved. Something was out there, waiting.
He thought back to his days of sneaking around the village, of his favorite adventurers as a kid of Lone Heroes braving the worlds, tombs full of traps and treasure to be had. And he looked at his map, and the amulet. He knew, that before he settled down into this life, he needed some adventure of his own.
He slipped the amulet over his neck, left a note explaining for the tomesmith, and hit the road. He was no longer on the sidelines watching the other kids play; he was going to make a name for himself, and solve this mystery.

Revan Stone is a Neutral Good Forest Gnome Rogue, with an archaeologist background.
As he levels up, he would go Inquisitive Rogue.
I imagine him fighting with a whip as his main weapon, Indiana Jones Style. Even if he doesn’t have proficiency in it, he still uses it. He uses his brain and his agility to his advantage. I plan to get proficiency in it, either by taking a feat at level 4, possibly switching my race to Variant Human to get it at 1, spend some downtime training it in via downtime training rules, or possibly trading out class feature for it per your Discretion (Thieves Cant doesn’t make much sense as he’s not a rogue in a traditional sense, but he might have had to turn to that life to sustain himself since he left his village).
Still early stages of thoughts.
